Regarding my book, Fishing for Reality:
Official Book Launch, this September 2009
It is a PhD of life. Here is an introduction to the book…great ideas for all students of life.
What is YOUR Reality?!!!
Fishing for Reality is for all lifelong learners in search of more meaning, more joy, more truth and more ideas to live life to the fullest. It is a look at reality. Let us call it my L.D. dissertation, for it has been, and will continue to be, a work in progress. This book is, I feel, an expression of the ideas and virtues which are essential for one to acquire a “Doctor of Life.”
Anything in life can be accomplished. The secret is to have a solid foundation of ideas upon which to build your future. The ideas contained within Fishing for Reality have been adopted and refined for you because it is often easier to get started with some help. My educational foundation is, of course, a result of my studies. More significantly, however, my life foundation comes from my original mentor, “Skipper” Michael Joseph Bruce, an extraordinary individual whose knowledge and wisdom about the things that really matter linger with me still.
Like many students today, I left university - lost. I had plenty of education and some work experience, in teaching, in psychology, in health and in physical education; however, I was not challenged enough to reach my full potential. I, therefore, returned to the basics - basic ideas waiting to be put to work. When you work the ideas, the ideas work for you. These basic ideas are not new. They have been handed down through the ages and are fundamental in life’s journey.
You do not need letters after your name to make a difference in society. Through the whole process of collecting ideas and studying the top world and community successes, I have come to reaffirm that your own personal development process is what matters most. You need ideas put to work to challenge you to challenge yourself. You will find the ideas presented here useful, and I am certain that if you want life change to occur, using these lifelong learning ideas will help start that process.
